Frequently Asked Questions
What is EMDR?
About EMDR Therapy – EMDR International Association Read here
How is EMDR therapy different from other therapies?
EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue or completing homework between sessions. EMDR therapy, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR therapy is designed to resolve unprocessed traumatic memories in the brain. For many clients, EMDR therapy can be completed in fewer sessions than other psychotherapies.
How does standard EMDR therapy differ from R-EMDR?
Relational EMDR Therapy℠ considers the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client as a central component for our clients who struggle with low self-esteem, relationships, and self-regulation by actively accompanying them on their journey towards healing. R-EMDR℠ is a shared experience between therapist and client beyond the resolution of the traumatic memories promoting growth and change.
What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a therapeutic approach that can quickly alleviate conditions such as depression, anxiety, OCD, eating disorders, and more, while also providing support in end-of-life care.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I am paneled with several insurance companies, including Cigna, Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield and more. If you wish to use your insurance, I can send you a link to my partner Headway, who can verify and help you find out your coverage.
Is my insurance accepted?
How often are sessions?
Sessions are customized to fit each individual client based on their availability and resources. Typically, if you use insurance as payment for your therapy, most plans limit individual sessions to once per week. For outpatient psychotherapy, this is usually sufficient in most cases. However, if you need further support some weeks and wish to attend an additional session, I’m happy to discuss that possibility with you.
For self pay clients, attending sessions more than once per week is possible as it’s appropriate for you and sustainable.
For KAP clients, our protocol is customized but typically I recommend weekly sessions, as meeting less often can hinder the momentum needed for lasting change. However, we can always tailor a plan that fits your schedule if needed.
What is your cancellation policy?
I require a standard 24 notice for cancellations. Emergencies occur and I certainly understand and forgive those. However, any other late cancellation or no show will incur a $50 charge to your payment method. I will respect your time and I ask for you to respect mine in kind.
How do we get started?
Schedule a consultation call with me. Once we start working together, we will determine your goals and growth direction, and then create a treatment plan to outline a clear path moving forward.
